Survey Results from Huntington County Schools
April 25, 2011 by admin
Earlier this year, Huntington County School Corporation teachers were surveyed regarding their classroom observances of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and other cultural holidays throughout the year. The survey results now appear on the Resources page. You can also download the results here.
This document can serve as a brainstorming guide for educators seeking to add relevant, age-appropriate lessons. The survey responses cover questions such as:
1. Please describe any assignments, projects, immersion experiences, or being there experiences that you’ve found valuable to promote understanding of MLK Day and other cultural holidays.
2. Please list any websites that you’ve found valuable to promote understanding of MLK Day or other cultural holidays.
3. Please list any local, state, or national speakers that you’ve found valuable to promote understanding of MLK Day and other cultural holidays.
4. Please list any books/novels that you’ve found valuable to promote understanding of MLK Day and other cultural holidays (please specify grade level appropriateness).
5. Please list any other multi-media resources that you’ve found valuable to promote understanding of MLK Day and other cultural holidays (i.e.: music/songs, movies, video clips, etc.).
Thirty local teachers responded to these survey questions, freely sharing ideas with their colleagues. Download the document here.
